"There's a lot of fish in the sea, but I'm a mermaid"

Outfit & tail (when she shifts) • 916 • Open
It hasn’t been even two weeks and already she was missing the ocean, her brother had a home near the sea though so at least she could go for a swim when she wanted and oh did she want. Whenever she wasn’t at work she was on the beach, sure she swam at the aquarium but it wasn’t the same thing as swimming in the ocean. No one understood the pull of the water other than other merfolk, though her brother and guard didn’t seem to be missing it much. They seemed as happy as clams on land, they seemed to enjoy their legs, they didn’t stumble or fall like she did. She’s never had legs before, so learning to walk on them has taken a bit to get used to. When she first got to land her brother had to help her, now she could walk on her own but she appeared to be walking drunk….or at least that is what her guard had said.

She had learned about the land dwellers by her mother, her siblings who went on land, they told her very interesting things. She knew general knowledge, how to eat like one of them, what getting drunk meant, something she wasn’t sure she wanted to find out. Still...it was all very interesting, and exciting for her, to be on land. She still felt like her father was going to come and drag her back down to the bottom of the sea. She broke his number one rule...she who never broke any rules he’s made...this was the biggest most important rule and it’s the first she broke. To say she was guilt ridden might be an understatement...she was feeling sick to her stomach knowing she let her father down, he had always been so happy with her. Now he must be disappointed, angry, she wouldn’t blame him...she broke his biggest rule.

See he didn’t like his girl’s, daughters going up to the land especially without him, though she did have her brother and guard. Her father didn’t care if the men went up to the land, he encouraged them actually. His daughters were a different story though, they were important, to make alliances with other communities and other important merfolk in their own communities. Her father was to arrange a match with a merman for each of his daughters, something she’s never questioned, never tried to get out of. He was worried that his girl’s would fall in love with a land dweller instead of one of their own. They needed Land dweller’s to reproduce, but for loving...no that was against her father’s rules, reproducing was a necessary but love was not...at least not when it concerned Land dwellers.

Not that Amaria had met any land dwellers that she’d even consider falling in love with, she knew very little...her boss at the aquarium was a land dweller. They were nice enough but she wouldn’t ever think of falling for them though who knew, she was still pretty new to the whole land thing. No matter what happened on land, she knew the ocean would call her back every time she found herself missing it. Like today, she had been missing the ocean, her ocean friends, so after work she hurried back home so she could go for a swim...a real swim in the real ocean not a glass tank where she performed. Her brother wasn’t home, and her guard was watching from the house, they could see her perfectly fine there.

She swam for two hours before deciding to take a break, before she did though she grabbed a few pearls, shells, so she could make bracelets like she used to. Pulling herself up on a rock she laid back, closing her eyes with a smile as the sun warmed her, trying out her tail, her skin. When she was completely dried her tail disappeared and her legs reappeared, she grabbed the clothes she had made sure to lay on the rock, slipping them on. Amaria smiled as she set her treasure’s next to her, grabbing the string she had gotten from the house. She and Christine used to make bracelets all the time, collecting their treasures from the ocean floor and spending hours making them. They’d give them as gifts to family and friends they found worthy, her father and mother had so many from her, her siblings all got one each year as well. She loved making bracelets, whenever she was upset, mad, angry, she’d make a bracelet it helped calm her...so what better way to calm her worries right now.

Amaria wasn’t paying attention to anything but her bracelet making and the song that slipped from her throat. She was in human form now, sitting on a rock, legs folded under her out of the water, her eyes stayed down at her task of making the bracelet. She was off in her own world so if anyone appeared she wouldn’t have known, she was too focused on her task and her song. She worried about Christine...worried if they’d ever find her, what she needed was a distraction from her worries, her fears. Singing helped as much as bracelet making, and in human form there was no worries of her enchanting anyone...they could enjoy her song without fear of her taking control over their mind and actions.

The nice weather was too hard to ignore, Colby concluded as he got ready to head out to the beach. He tried his best to hang inside and work on cleaning up his place, but he only got so far. His eyes kept glancing outside. At least his kitchen's no longer a mess. That was a bit of a success, right? He glanced at himself in the bathroom mirror, as he put on his favorite bracelet (a gift from one of his students). He cracked a smile. Not having any lessons today only pushed the idea that he should hang outside. Colby's passion was music, so not having lessons seemed to make him a little restless.

Soon enough, he was parking his car near the beach and turning off the car's engine. He had a change of clothes stashed in the backseat, in case he didn't really want to drive around in a wet suit. Colby made his way down to the beach, carrying the essentials for the day ahead...

If he was to hang out at the beach, Colby might as well work on his music. You never know where inspiration will come out to play! He found himself a pretty nice spot in the sand and while cracking a smile, he carefully set down his guitar to set up his towel. Once done, he kicked off his sandals before they were filled with sand any further and then slipped off his tank top. He was already prepared with sunscreen, but also brought it along just in case. His eyes were hidden somewhat by his aviator glasses. As Colby was looking out towards the ocean, the faint sound of singing reached his ears. He briefly glanced about his surroundings, unable to fully figure out where it was coming from. With the slight breeze moving about, the sound could be coming from anywhere on the beach. He smirked, listening to the faint voice. It had reminded him of when he met Peggy and how they sang together at that open mic. He bit his lower lip at the memory. She was attractive and had a great voice, he could only wonder if he will ever see her again.

An idea seemed to strike him, then. Perhaps this faint voice needs a bit of musical accompaniment?

With that in mind, Colby opened up his case and pulled out his guitar. When he had a tune in his head, he held the pick in between his fingers and then started to strum. After some brief tuning, of course. Perhaps the music he's making will carry back to the owner of the voice? Maybe, maybe not.

Either way, this will be a good start to his day..

OOC: Hope you don't mind my guy jumping in ^^
